Opening Scripture Reading – Psalm 119:1-8
Individual or Group Reads
1 Blessed are those whose way is blameless,
who walk in the law of the LORD!
2 Blessed are those who keep his testimonies,
who seek him with their whole heart,
3 who also do no wrong,
but walk in his ways!
4 You have commanded your precepts
to be kept diligently.
5 Oh that my ways may be steadfast
in keeping your statutes!
6 Then I shall not be put to shame,
having my eyes fixed on all your commandments.
7 I will praise you with an upright heart,
when I learn your righteous rules.
8 I will keep your statutes;
do not utterly forsake me!
Immortal, Invisible, God Only Wise
Immortal, invisible, God only wise,
In light inaccessible hid from our eyes,
Most blessed, most glorious, the Ancient of Days,
Almighty, victorious, thy great name we praise.Unresting, unhasting, and silent as light,
Nor wanting, nor wasting, thou rulest in might;
Thy justice like mountains high soaring above
Thy clouds which are fountains of goodness and love.To all life Thou givest, to both great and small
In all life thou givest, the true life of all
We blossom and flourish as leaves on the tree
And wither and perish, but not changest Thee.Great Father of glory, pure Father of light,
Thine angels adore thee, all veiling their sight;
All praise we would render; O help us to see
'Tis only the splendor of light hideth thee!
Prayer of Confession
Leader or Individual Prays
Father God,
We dare not gaze upon you in your glory,
Yet we can’t bear to gaze upon our own sinfulness.
Would you help us yet again to look at your Son, Jesus,
In whom we find forgiveness.
For in him we are made worthy to behold all your glory,
And in him we are given new hearts,
and new life.
Would you give to us all we need to walk with him in this new life,
all our days.
Amen.
Scripture Reading – Ephesians 4:17-24
Individual or Group Reads
17 Now this I say and testify in the Lord, that you must no longer walk as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their minds. 18 They are darkened in their understanding, alienated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them, due to their hardness of heart. 19 They have become callous and have given themselves up to sensuality, greedy to practice every kind of impurity. 20 But that is not the way you learned Christ! - 21 assuming that you have heard about him and were taught in him, as the truth is in Jesus, 22 to put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, 23 and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds, 24 and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.
The Solid Rock
My hope is built on nothing less
Than Jesus’s blood and righteousness.
I dare not trust the sweetest frame,
But wholly trust in Jesus’s Name.On Christ the solid Rock I stand,
All other ground is sinking sand;
All other ground is sinking sand.When darkness veils His lovely face,
I rest on His unchanging grace.
In every high and stormy gale,
My anchor holds within the veil.His oath, His covenant, His blood,
Support me in the whelming flood.
When all around my soul gives way,
He then is all my Hope and Stay.On Christ the solid Rock I stand,
All other ground is sinking sand;
All other ground is sinking sand.When He shall come with trumpet sound,
Oh may I then in Him be found.
Dressed in His righteousness alone,
Faultless to stand before the throne.On Christ the solid Rock I stand,
All other ground is sinking sand;
All other ground is sinking sand.
